4. NEPALPAY Card Additional Security Elements

It is strongly recommended that participating issuer members and third-party processors to implement various security features on NEPALPAY EMV card printing to safeguarding the integrity and authenticity of the card including:

a. Ultraviolet (UV) Sensitive Ink Pattern: NEPALPAY Card fronts must include the Ultraviolet security device as shown below. This invisible line pattern is from first letter of NEPAL combined with first letter of PAY within a split circle, printed in the middle of the Card for security purposes. This pattern is printed in blue cast fluorescent ink.

b. Microtext: The surface of the NEPALPAY card lies microtext, an intricate feature that enhances security. This tiny, finely-printed text, while barely visible to the naked eye, serves as a potent deterrent against counterfeiting attempts. Its complexity makes replication virtually impossible, ensuring the integrity and authenticity of the card.

c. Holograms: The NEPALPAY card contains holographic elements meticulously embedded onto its surface, elevating both its aesthetic appeal and security measures. The hologram, whether in the form of an intricate image or foil stamping, serves as a distinctive marker of authenticity. Its visually pleasing appearance not only enhances the card's overall design but also poses a formidable challenge to counterfeiters, safeguarding the card against unauthorized replication and fraud.

d. Guilloché Patterns: Embedded within the NEPALPAY card's design, guilloché patterns, meticulously crafted with intricate, fine-line detail. These patterns, adorning the card's surface as background designs or borders, serve as a hallmark of authenticity and sophistication. Their intricate nature not only enhances the card's visual appeal but also poses a significant obstacle to counterfeiters.

e. Embossing: A feature of the NEPALPAY card may opt by participating members, where characters or numbers are raised on the card surface through a unique printing process. This tactile element not only enhances the card's aesthetic appeal but also serves as a testament to its authenticity. The raised characters provide a tangible quality that is difficult to replicate using standard printing methods, thereby enhancing the card's security against counterfeiting.

f. Tamper-Evident Features: A feature of the NEPALPAY card may opt by participating members, where tamper-evident features designed to safeguard its integrity against unauthorized tampering or alteration. These features may include special seals, overlays, or coatings applied to the card surface. Any attempt to tamper with or alter the card's surface will result in visible evidence, such as damage to the seals or disruptions in the overlays. By providing clear indicators of tampering, these features serve as a deterrent to fraudulent activities.

g. Custom Watermarks: A feature of the NEPALPAY card may opt by participating members, where card lies a sophisticated security measure in the form of custom watermarks. These unique watermarks or images are seamlessly integrated into the card's design, offering an added layer of visual authentication.
